At least we have a house to rent, a job for me to go to and schools for the boys to go to. Other than that it is pretty much life in limbo. Our belongings come in three phases: whatever we bring with us as luggage, an air shipment of 500 lbs (which sounds a fair amount but isn't really, especially for a family of 5) which takes about a week to arrive and thirdly, the big shipment that takes 6-8 weeks to show up.
We decided to send the air shipment a few days in advance of leaving the States so it would be ready not long after Jill and the boys arrived, but it really contains only the basics for living. In our case that means some clothes, air beds, of which more about later, sleeping bags and a profunctory level of pots, crockery, cutlery, toys, a travel iron and a pc.
It was initially fun for the boys; like camping indoors. It wasn't even initially fun for Jill or me.
We can't wait for the big shipment to arrive.
